Pop-up Clinics for Metabolic Screening in Burnaby
When was the last time you had routine metabolic health screenings? Do you have a family doctor or nurse practitioner?
If it has been a while since you have had screening tests at a doctor’s office and you don’t have your own family doctor, come visit us this summer at one of our Pop-Up Metabolic Screening Clinics.
What is metabolic health?
Metabolic health (i.e. your metabolism) is foundational for your overall well-being. It is the process that powers every cell in the body with energy generated from the food you eat and your environment.
Having good metabolic health reduces your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. These screening tests can help detect conditions like these early on — or help with monitoring existing issues.
What happens at a pop-up clinic?
When you come to a Pop-Up Metabolic Screening Clinic, you will see a family doctor or nurse practitioner and they can:
- Test your blood pressure
- Review your risk-level for metabolic conditions, family history, and health records
- Give you a requisition for tests to do at the lab
Who can come?
You can attend if:
- You live in Burnaby
- You currently do not have a family doctor or nurse practitioner
What happens after your visit?
With your consent, a family doctor or nurse practitioner will contact you to provide follow-up care instructions if your test results are abnormal.
If needed, they will help connect you to other services or care based on your results.
Need a family doctor?
All BC residents can now register for a family doctor or nurse practitioner in their community through BC’s Health Connect Registry. When you register, you are added to a centralized registry of primary care providers across your community.
